Come On-board. Find Away.
Every Blount Small Ship adventure is a little different. It comes from a once in a lifetime combination of passengers, crew and destination that make for something truly magical.
Your journey starts the moment you step aboard. The first thing you notice is the casual atmosphere. You begin to unwind. Relax. And it’s then that you get the itch to explore. So why not take a photography class, and get to know your cameras a little better, and maybe even make your vacation pictures a little more interesting along the way? Or attend a wine tasting, featuring vintages from the city on the banks of the river you’re cruising? Or learn from an on-board naturalist, teaching you about the wildlife at your next destination?
And because Blount cruises are filled with people filled with curiosity, you’re just as likely to learn a thing or two from your fellow passengers before you come home
The possibilities keep coming once you land onshore. Our cruises have kayaks, snorkel equipment, and bikes available. So if you’re looking to explore the port, we have just the stuff you need. Over the years, we’ve developed close relationships in many of our ports, so our shore excursions are always personal, unexpected, and rewarding. You could end up visiting a small thatched-roof village, blowing soap bubbles, and laughing with local children. Exploring ancient Mayan ruins. Or enjoying bluegrass music by the banks of the Mississippi.
When you cruise with Blount, every day is filled with possibilities.
Go Places Only Blount Can Take You
As a ship builder, Luther Blount often personally delivered new ships to a port. It’s how he found “away”. And, often he’d take a look around and think “This is a beautiful place. Other people should experience it, too.” So when it came time for Blount Small Ship Adventures to begin cruising, many of the first destinations were the ports Luther loved the most.
Today, Blount still cruises to the places that captured Luther’s heart. Unique destinations you won’t visit on other small ships. Like Guatemala’s Rio Dulce, a shallow river bordered by rain forest, and filled with amazing wildlife. Cruising down the river, you won’t see any other cruise ships. But you will see the traditional carved wooden canoes of the local fishermen, gliding just off starboard. You’ll see dramatic gorges. And villages filled with thatched roofs and warm hearted residents, ready to welcome you to their corner of this spectacular landscape.
Only Blount takes you to the small, unspoiled corners of the tropics, like Mayaguana, one of the most remote islands in the Bahamas, and home to beautiful reefs and historic shipwrecks. Or West Snake Cay, a remote, untouched coral ridge that’s home to manatees and thousands of tropical fish.
And only Blount helps you explore America’s great waterways, like the Mississippi, Lake Champlain, and the Hudson River. Even the Erie Canal, a waterway many thought couldn’t be navigated by a cruise ship. Thanks to a retractable pilot house invented by Luther, Blount ships slip under the famous low bridges of the canal, past small towns and historic port villages, deep into the heart of America’s past. Or drop anchor in Canada’s Georgian Bay, near the North channel, and take stargazing to another level.
